Benjamin,

Thanks for the suggestions. I think at this point I am just going to 
accept that when a field becomes editable the insertion point is set to 
the end of the field. I have hopes that someday flash 8.5 text fields 
will be supported and that this will give me the ability to do what I 
have described.
