I've read up on persistent connection ..

one old tutorial here ..

http://jackhung.tripod.com/lpsagent/quoteAgent/main.html

...

but surely persistent connection is a client<->server scenario - with persistent pipe?

By "collaborative networking" I assume no server .. all communications are client to client, peer to peer (other than cache servers).

In fact each user runs a local server.

See www.groove.net on how it might work.  Shared documents in a user group (community) workspace.

i.e. an opensource version of groove (built in openlaszlo) would certainly interest me.

and tools (like groove components) being built in openlaszlo.

See Ray Ozzie's blog ..
