There are two cases: compiled-in resource and runtime-loaded resources.

Compiled-in resources will be transcoded to swf and will work in swf7 (and swf6 and swf5 ...)

For runtime-loaded resources:

If you use proxied server mode, they will get transcoded to swf.

If you use SOLO mode, they don't.

If I use a PNG or GIF file as the resource for a view in OpenLaszlo, then
compile with the Flash 7 player as my target, will the images display on a
Flash 7 player in my browser?

I know that PNG and GIF support wasn't added until flash 8 but I was
wondering if the OpenLaszlo compiler does some sort of conversion or
something.
