Java 6 did not work for me on Windows for a developer build:
NOTE: No one has successfully built with JDK 1.6 yet, so I don't
know why we list that here. In fact, we know that you will fail
trying to install Jython if you install JDK 1.6.

But I think people have used it for deployments.
