It doesn't seem to be possible to use dataoption="lazy" with a datacombobox,
is this a feature or could you please solve this issue? The datacombobox
uses lists (floating lists) just scrolling up and down in a clipped view.
Using <datacombobox menuclassname="basefloatlist"... reduces the bloat but
still for a 100 item combobox it's very very slow because replication is not
lazy. Slow in init(), slow in destroy(), in all runtimes. Having looked
into this component (datacombobox), somebody really tried to showcase the
class structure of openlaszlo it seems.

Couldn't dhtml just use native html components once in a while?
Shouldn't these components be hell lot better for any competition with other
emerging web toolkits? It's the basics, maybe custom components were hip
before but normal these days. Performance is more critical, especially for
dhtml.

I could create my own components but these are the basics, who wants to
recreate the wheel?

Maybe a new project to gather forces and create some hot components would be
nice, putting together the open community. The Japanese seem to have done
some good job putting togther some components. But I don't understand how
people can live with the basics crippled??? Don't these components really
need a rewrite?

Thanks for listening,

Can
