As Tucker has pointed out on several occasions, Laszlo is only willing to
provide certain enhancements for money as they are a commercial enterprise.
I'm wondering if they would be willing to establish a marketplace where
outside individuals could contribute fixes and enhancements -- for instance
to these charting components or the doc tools -- where upon satisfactory
completion the participants would receive points that could be redeemed for
their desired enhancements. Laszlo would set the price value for the desired
contributions and general rules within this marketplace. This would allow
Laszlo personnel to refuse an enhancement request if they felt it was
detrimental to the overall quality of Laszlo. Basically, this is the trade
of outside developer time for a pro-rated amount of Laszlo developer time.
Hopefully, this would result in the generation of further contributions from
the community towards Laszlo development.
