        Duhhhhh --- as someone pointed out in e-mail I just needed to
add an "align=bottom".   I *knew* this at one point, but for some
reason, it didn't occur to me.  Sorry.

        However, the other two questions are still up in the air, and 
I don't think they're as simple as me not remembering an option.
Let's add #4 to the pile:

        4) How do I get the backgrounds to be white?   The images are
           transparent (I think), and I *thought* I read the config 
           file directions correctly.  Yet, I get that ugly gray192
           color for a background...
