I just tested l2h98_2beta ... and I think the realease is not far away.
The problems of l2h98_1p7 and l2h98_2alpha are gone ...
I only found two minor problems with the new functions regarding
the usage of \footnotemark -- \footnotetext inside the displaymath-
environment.
First, I think there must be a additional BORDER="0" with the image
that is the active link to the footnote. Otherwise (at least with
Netscape 4.0) there is a border around the equation.
Second, l2h is not interpreting that part of the formula that is used
as the footnotemark as part of a math-environment. So
\[a \leq b\overline{c}\footnotemark\]
\footnotetext{This is a test}
gives
b\overline{c}1
This is a test
in footnode.html.
This also happens when \footnotemark is part of a picture-environment
and the \footnotemark is attached to a $...$ environment.
