I upgraded to LaTeX2HTML 98.1p1 today, and tried to recompile
an about 100-page document which compiles well with 97.1.

It went well with the first chapters, which are in separate files
up to 10 Kb. I didn't notice any exceptional memory usage,
20 Mb perhabs.

Then, when it entered the last section of the first 16 Kb chapter
it looked as if it entered an infinite loop, just printing pages of dots
after entering the first subsection. The system could give more
than 300 Mb before LaTeX2HTML said 'Out of memory' and gmake
seg'ged. (For some reason it didn't get any significant amount
of swap space, even though there where more 150 Mb free.)

The only special commands I use in that file for the first time
in the document is the figure environment including \epsfig and
\caption, so I tried to \html{\excludecomment{figure}} with no
success.

Does anyone have an idea ? seen something similar ?
any ideas on the changes from ver 97.1 ?
I'd appreciate. TIA

I guess it wouldn't help me to have a hundred megabytes more :-)
