Folks:
        I have previously reported a problem with the use of psfrags to insert
mathematical formulae into .eps figures (created using xfig). The problem was
that psfrag-inserted text along the periphery of the figures tended to get
cropped. This I believed was due to the possible change in effective size of
the figure which the pbm cropping utilities were unaware of.
        I have found the following workaround for this problem. Place a text
tag (say "M") OUTSIDE the text which is getting cropped and then use the psfrag
command

\begin{psfrags}
        ...
        \psfrag{M}[br][br]{}
        ...
        \includegraphics[...]{...}
\end{psfrags}

to "erase" it. You may also need to change the dimension spec in the
\includgraphics command (since the figure is now bigger).
        Hope this is of use.

        Regards,
                Bob Daley
