Configured this way l2h is running fine

this is all!!!
running l2h complains for not finding local.pm

even worse:
configure-pstoimg by hand
gives the following:

Subroutine getcwd redefined at Override.pm line 186.
Statement unlikely to be reached at Override.pm line 217.
(Maybe you meant system() when you said exec()?)
Found = in conditional, should be == at Override.pm line 272.

Ghostscript Configuration
=========================

Fatal Error: "gs" not found. Pstoimg won't work.
You must have Ghostscript installed on your system. You can
find
Ghostscript as source code or precompiled binary on every
major
ftp site. If you decide to build your own gs do not forget
to
include the pnmraw device for best latex2html performance.
Current version of Aladdin Ghostscript is 4.03.
