I am a new user of latex2html. I have the 98.1p1 version. I have 2
questions. The first is handling of \verb and the second is for hints
about what might be going on regarding significantly different results
for the same input file when the linux system I was using was upgraded
from RedHat 4.2 to RedHat 5.1.
\verb - I noticed that \verb in tables were being translated into
\verb* like gifs. The routine in latex2html,
sub revert_verb_marks {
# Modifies $_
s/$verb_mark(\d+)$verb_mark/\\verb*$verb_delim{$1}$verb{$1}$verb_delim{$1}/go;
}
seems to explicitly do this, although I certainly do not understand
the code. When I removed the "*" from the function, I got the results
that I expected. But as I understand it, now \verb* would not be
handled correctly.
Linux upgrade
With an unchanged latex2html and latex2html.config, the very same
latex document produced many more sections,(23 instead of 13)
including repetitions that I can not explain. The latex output looks
just the same as it did.
I have included a little of the output from both cases in hopes that
the pattern is suggestive to someone, or perhaps someone has
encountered this with RedHat 5.1.
I do not understand enough about how latex2html is implemented to look
for clues as to who got confused about what.
