I remember I had perhaps the same problem in W95. I solved it by placing
the fonts in the rootdirectory of gs. Yet I use gs, version 5.10 and after
installing it with GSVIEW I had the directory:
D:\gstools\gs5.10
The fonts are placed in a subdirectory of gs5.10, but I put them in
gs5.10. And I set the variable GS_LIB=d:\gstools\gs5.10.
