Hi,
[Please retain the CC to [EMAIL PROTECTED], so
that the Debian Bug tracking system can follow this report]
I maintain LaTex2HTML for the Debian GNU?Linux distribution,
and one of the uses has reported this problem. This exists in both
the beta 4 and beta6 on the Darmstadt repository.

http://cdc-server.cdc.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/~latex2html/l2h98_2beta6.tar.gz
The following latex file:
======================================================================
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
$72^\circ$
\end{document}
======================================================================
has trouble when run with the command
% latex2html -html_version 3.2,math file
produces html code which includes the following phrase:
<MATH CLASS="INLINE">
72<SUP>o</SUP> *main::open_tags
</MATH>
Note that the string "*main::open_tags" appears as a visible
string in a web browser. This is a bug within latex2html.
