I'm all confused and not sure how to approach these problems. Anyone
have any ideas?

Basically, I've been trying to convert my doc to html with version 98.1p1.
I run into several different problems with images/equations.

1) in my document I use $\sim$ (for tilde ~), $\clubsuit$, and other
such symbols. For some reason l2h converts these to (giant, ugly)
images instead of appropriate HTML.
   I tried -html_version 3.2,math and it just broke a bunch of
other things and didn't even fix the problem. It changed \clubsuit
to ♣ (I believe it's supposedto be ♣).

2) The images are *all* way too big and have this border on the
bottom left. So 'sigma' ends up looking like:

| s
|___

  where 's' is the symbol sigma and |_ are black lines. There's a lot
of empty space at the top of the image as well. They are also large
image but I haven't played with $MATH_SCALE_FACTOR yet.

3) Some \begin{equation} environments were not converted to HTML.
I just get a big blank (although the eqn # is still there).
   Here is the HTML it generates

<DIV ALIGN="CENTER">

<!-- MATH: \begin{equation}
PPOT_2 = \frac{T_{B,A} + \frac{T_{B,T}}{2}
\end{equation} -->

<TABLE WIDTH="100%" ALIGN="CENTER">
<TR VALIGN="MIDDLE"><TD ALIGN="CENTER" NOWRAP><A
NAME="EQ_PP">&#160;</A></TD>
<TD WIDTH=10 ALIGN="RIGHT">
(5.5)</TD></TR>
</TABLE>
</DIV>
