I didn't see this one in the archives so apologies if it's a known bug:
I do a lot of double subscripts, for example:
$P_{S_{max}}$
which,in the HTML should be (in ascii) P_S_max
but which keeps coming out as
P_S_{<}<1189>>max
ie: the first of the < is double subscripted, the rest of the
<1189>> is single subscripted, and where the heck did the 1189 come
from? The number is not constant, but it's always 4 digit
I'm running LaTeX2html 97.1 on Linux Redhat 5.2
with LaTeX2e, TeX (Web2C 7.2) 3.14159
