latex2html: Determining if I'm in a or context

  I seem to recall that, in a do_cmd_foo() sub, I should be able to
get the current HTML context.  I'd like to be able to determine if the 
current macro is called when there's already a macro which set up a
monospaced font; is this possible?
  Any explanation or pointers to examples would be appreciated!
