Hi Uli,
I was able to fix the problem using a better definition for the command
"\C" that I introduced, thanks to Ross. Now, after changing all of the
instances of that command, evrything works. Apparently TEX reads the
commands in a different way than Latex2html and this was in conflict with
my definition which was fine for latex but confusing for latex2html.

I didn't want to put all of the files in the same directory because this
helps their organization.
