Again, sorry for all this one-way info, but I have solved the problem. Somehow, my
installation process
(based on the l2h "INSTALL" instructions), did not update the pstoimg, latex2html, and
texexpand files on
/usr/bin. Whether this was my fault or a problem with the install scripts, I do not
know. I manually copied
them and the black bars are gone.
