This way you do not have to worry about the scope
of the \textstyle or \displaystyle which can also
alter the size of the \sum symbol, and would affect any
fractions that follow afterwards, as well as other things.
Use of \limits and \nolimits is applicable to all
operators, including textual ones; e.g.
\operatorname{Hom}
