Your editor was correct if the colon was in the middle of a sentence, or if it was introducing a list treated as a single sentence (i.e. if the last item ended in a period but the others did not). Radio button labels are not sentences, though, and they have their own rules. They should never end in a period, and they almost always start with a capital letter.
