This has sometimes worked well for me in the past, but I wonder if in
practice it depends on us developers having production-like systems to
practice on. In practice I find that my "script" can go off the rails
very easily and at many stages: no idea how long a query will take, typo
or thinko, forgot some setup, things in production aren't quite what I
assumed they were, a cron script isn't set up, etc.
