Hi Matthew, After talking with Deryck today, I'd like your input on this bug. It's marked as a regression and thus gets Critical priority. But it's kind of in the "by-design" category.
The situation is that 'newest first' sort order which sorts by
descending bug task age (days since the bug was associated to the
project) isn't in our list of sort options anymore. We replaced it with
'bug age' which is equivalent to 'bug task age' only on the project
where the bug was originally filed.
Now, the question is do we want to introduce 'bug task age' in addition
to 'bug age' in the list of supported options. (It's trivial to do, but
it might be confusing to users, because our bug data model is complex.)
If we don't want to support two, we could also simply keep 'Bug task
age' and even call it 'Bug age' as that would probably be easier to
understand to users. And people would probably not even notice the
discrepancy, as it's the same thing in the great majority of context.
Another thing to consider, is that it's possible to get the old sort
order by using the Advanced search page. The extra sort option will
appear as an extra button on the resulting page. That's even
bookmarkable. So if we stick to our 'only-use-bug-age-by-default'
decision, we could drop the regression tag and downgrade the bug to low.
As a side note, Deryck will review the list of 'bug-columns' bugs
tomorrow, to mark the one already fixed, and review the one that should
be kept High and targeted to close. You might want to do the same.

Deryck and I chatted on IRC; it should be straight forward to expose the
date the task was created as a new item of bug info, which would allow
folk wanting this to use it easily (and makes it more useful because you
can tell when you're looking at ancient stuff). Per that discussion I've
reopened and retitled.
