I can confirm this, it also prevents easily commenting on any item posted to news.launchpad.net.
I tried to post a comment to http://news.launchpad.net/podcast /launchpod-episode-8-developer-interview-with-curtis-hovey-and-chat- about-landscape and got this error from Firefox: news.launchpad.net uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed. (Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer) as a workaround one can add news.launchpad.net's SSL certificate to the list of certificates we explicitly trust, however this defeats the identity authentication purpose of the certificate (as its self-signed cet fingerprint is not published elsewhere on a trusted source). Steps to work-around: 1) In Firefox go to Edit > Preferences > "Advanced" button 2) Got to the "Encryption" tab, click on "View certificates" 3) Go tot the "Servers" tab, click on "Add exception" 4) Fill the "Location" field with: https://news.launchpad.net/wp-comments-post.php 5) Click on "Get certificate", this will fetch the SSL certificate information. 6) Click on "View" and verify the certificate matches the screenshot I am providing attached to this bug report, click "Close" 7) If you trust this SSL certificate to be Canonical's even though it is self-signed, click on "Confirm security exception" ** Changed in: launchpad-documentation Status: New => Confirmed -- https://news.launchpad.net uses an invalid certificate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/249176 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Launchpad Documentation Team, which is subscribed to Launchpad Documentation. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~launchpad-doc Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~launchpad-doc More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
