I've created a NewToLaunchpad guide on the help wiki
(https://help.launchpad.net/NewToLaunchpad) that is linked prominently
from the help wiki front page.
I've also created FAQ 186 ("Is there a Launchpad demo?") for the
Launchpad project in Answers.
I'll add a link/info about staging to the tour in its next revision and
I consider the two changes mentioned above to fix this bug.
