You have been subscribed to a public bug: I just created a new Launchpad project and started using Launchpad as the primary host of the project.
It was a while since the last time I did this, and I found the process confusing. After creating the project, I clicked on the "Code" tab, which brought me to a page listing various options for code hosting (mirroring an external branch, using Launchpad as the primary host, maybe something else too.) I clicked the link to read the help about hosting the code on Launchpad. I ended up on a seemingly helpful page (https://help.launchpad.net/Code/UploadingABranch?action=show&redirect=CreatingAHostedBranch) explaining how it works. The page said "First up, tell Launchpad about your branch. Visit your branch registration page and follow the on-screen instructions. " The link to branch registration page was simple enough, but it gave me a branch on a project apparently called "+junk", which wasn't quite what I was looking for. In fact, it didn't explain at all what the +junk bit means. Reading a bit more the help page showed it also talked something about choosing a project on the branch registration page. There was no such option there. After clicking around a while, I noticed the "Register a branch" link the project code page, which actually allowed me to create a branch under my new project. The help page should probably be corrected to reflect reality; it should tell the user to click the register a branch link when looking at the project's code page.
