Public bug reported: My ppa has a package remove-duplicates-plugin_0.0.4-1~ppa1 targeting Karmic.
Today I was trying to upload remove-duplicates-plugin_0.0.4-1~ppa1~hardy , targeting Hardy, but my upload was rejected because: Rejected: remove-duplicates-plugin_0.0.4-1~ppa1~hardy.dsc: Version older than that in the archive. 0.0.4-1~ppa1~hardy <= 0.0.4-1~ppa1 Now, to my eyes it is perfectly OK that I upload an older version for a different release (in particular for an older release!). However, in #launchpad I was told by bjools that my versioning is wrong. Still, the help page ([1]) doesn't make clear what exactly is wrong, and I have no clue about it: both the naming schemes are fine per se, and there is no particularly intuitive reason why mixing them should give particular problems. Please clarify the exact rules that version numbers should follow.
