Right, specifically turning it back on by default. I think that's fine. I'm just testing it interactively in a browser and it does seem to work ok, which is great. [fix] There is one bug which is that the tarball link always gets you the tarball from the current version of the branch, even if you're looking at an older version, which I think people would find confusing. Could you try to fix that?
