Hi, I had a vent about this as https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-doc/+bug/84484 already, but I thought I'd mail the list too. I'm not normally one for venting, but this issue really gets my back up. I think generally with free software (or at least software that is provided for free) I avoid venting because I understand that it's provided for free and bugs will happen; and I enjoy being constructive and reporting bugs and such.
But in this case, that doesn't apply because (1) the bug was reported a year and a half ago and doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and I think also (2) because as an Ubuntu contributor Launchpad is forced on me to a certain extent, so fundamental flaws which get in the way of working really grate on me. As far as I can see there has not yet been any comment on bug 2141 which leads me to think that there is any prospect of it being fixed. It's a serious bug to fail to allow project leaders to define their product series and delete any which are inappropriate. This bug is probably the one I would raise concern about if someone with a project asked me whether I would recommend Launchpad to them. So I have two questions. 1. Is there any prospect at all of this bug receiving some attention from the developers? 2. How does it happen that a bug remains open for a year and a half without any such attention (except for the helpful comments provided by mpt and ddaa in relation to workarounds)?
