Hi Ali, I don't know if my previous reply got through to this mailing list. I know you received it personally, as you sent me a reply.
Anyway... it's a bug in Launchpad that your email address has been visible to Google. I apologise for that. I've just put a work-around in place in Launchpad. If you look at the pages for translating the "translator-credits" string when you are logged into Launchpad, you will still see your email address there, along with that of other translators. However, if you log out of Launchpad, and look at the same translation page, the "translator-credits" string and its translations is hidden. This will prevent Google and other search engines from indexing those email addresses. Here are the three pages I found via Google. You can try them out, both logged into Launchpad, and not logged in. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/feisty/+source/yelp/+pots/yelp/ar/+translate?start=250 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/dapper/+source/alacarte/+pots/alacarte/ar/+translate https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/feisty/+source/xubuntu-docs/+pots/desktopguide/ar/+translate?start=530 The Rosetta team will look at making a better solution next week. Thank you for reporting this problem, and I apologise again that we leaked your email address to be indexed by Google. -- Steve Alexander > Hi all, > > I would like to know if there is any planned action to protect launchpad > users from spam-bots.When I searched for my email address in google , it > appeared that the only place I had my email address written in clear was > launchpad ,which is unfortunate. > > Hope to get a reply soon and thanks in advance. > > Ali -- launchpad-users mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/launchpad-users
