You do need to have the .orig.tar.* present in the parent directory - debuild -S won't create it, because it's assumed to come from upstream. My point wasn't that you should remove .orig.tar.*, but that you shouldn't need to compress .debian.tar.* by hand. > It is why I depend on compressing files, but it must because of > debian/source/format.
