Most likely the 6508 card will not be fast enough to implement the SPDIF protocol. Even at slower rates SPDIF bit rates are in the MHz range, which will be too fast for this card.
One possible solution for SPDIF is the FPGA based <a href="http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=11829&lang=US";>7831R</a> reconfigurable I/O (RIO) card. Using the LabVIEW <a href="http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=11784&lang=US";>FPGA module</a> you can program the FPGA on the card for a wide range of applications including implementing digital communication protocols.
