I have a DAQ application that does 4 channels of counting from some
hardware I built. A few users want to run two sets hardware from the
same computer to save both money and space. I could try to modify the
built app to handle twice as many counters, display twice as much
data, save twice as many files, etc. But I thought that instead, I
will build two versions of the same app, each with its own installer.
I would give them different names (myApp1 and myApp2, for example),
maybe give their front panels different colors, and have them look
for different device numbers for the counter/timer board they use.
Then the user can just run the two apps independently.
Haven't tried it yet, but is there any reason it won't work or
shouldn't be done?
Thanks,
David
