Ann - The VIs you mentioned are not provided by NI, but they do sound like they use functions from the NI-IMAQ driver, which is used with National Instruments image acquisition boards. If you have the IMAQ Vision software, it will be very easy to take the average signal of the images. Here is an example program that will do this for you:
