You can't simply take two wires from the PSU to the card and expect to
measure either voltage or current with no switching.

You need to measure the voltage across a small shunt resistor to get
current, and the voltage across the output (after the shunt) to get voltage.
So one wire goes to PSU ground, one wire goes to the PSU side of the shunt
and one to the load side and you measure either between the load side of the
shunt and ground, or between the load side of the shunt and the PSU side of
the shunt. You need to multiplex these two.
