New Jersey teenager Brian Peterson has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in
connection with the death of his newborn son.

Peterson and former high-school sweetheart Amy Grossberg are accused
of killing their child and leaving the body in a dumpster behind a
Delaware motel.

Grossberg claims she thought her baby was stillborn.
(News flash Amy, stillborns don't usually have crushed skulls).

Peterson's lawyer Joe Hurley says although the young man pleaded
guilty to manslaughter, he has insisted from the very beginning that he
meant the baby no harm.

Peterson's attorneys also maintain Peterson and Grossberg never
discussed killing the child before it was born.

As part of the plea-bargain deal, prosecutors dropped the charges
of first-degree murder and murder by abuse or neglect against Peterson.
He has also agreed to testify against Grossberg, who he claims told him
``to get rid of'' the child. Her trial is slated to begin May 4.

Peterson faces up to 10 years in prison when sentenced.

Grossberg's attorney, Robert Tannenbaum, says the plea deal will
not affect his client's case. He told reporters, ``What'll set Amy free
and give her back her life is the truth, and that's what we'll be after
in court.''
