I wish I could have said that as well as you did, I agree completely, for
us to argue when a fetus becomes a person is an issue that could be debated
until the end of time as there will never be a satisfactory answer. For me
you have to but a time on it and since the courts and science say that after
26weeks a fetus becomes an unborn child and is to far developed for abortion
then I feel that is the time when it should be protected by the law. After
all if someone had an abortion at 28 weeks that would be an offence wouldn't
it? Viability is the key word and if a fetus is terminated at 26 + weeks
then we should be looking at a person feeling the full weight of the legal
system. I understand that in case case involving a fetus of 22ish weeks the
case would be very difficult but you have to draw a line in the sand
somewhere and that would be mine.
This ability of the fetus
>to survive outside of the maternal organism defines "viability". A person,
>in my opinion, is a living, viable, cognitive, reasoning individual,
capable
>of independent existence...
(my opinion)
To but it another way, this guy attacked a pregnant woman with total
disregard for her and the unborn child and for that there is no defense. In
my life I have only hit a woman once and that was because she was beating me
to a pulp at the time, I had no option but I am ashamed at the same time.
Now though I have the skills to defend myself without resorting to hurting
anyone, but to attack a pregnant woman I couldn't even think about it.
