The number of coincidences that one has to swallow to believe Judy Buenoano
was innocent are mind-boggling no doubt. When she argued she had to prove
her innocence it was hardly far from the mark. One of the great bete-noires
of the Simpson case surfaced in this case again: Roger Martz. The FBI is
still looking diligently for evidence of his work on the case and the courts
are still open to argument while they are shoveling dirt in her face.
I was really just disputing that Buenoano was executed without much uproar
because she was not young and pretty. People are not overly anxious to see
a kindly dignified old lady who teaches Bible classes killed. Her lawyers
concentrated on the evidence, such as it was, and thus there were no appeals
from Pope John Paul and Pat Robertson and people around the world.
