-=Today's Puzzle:
Homonyms are words that sound alike, though they are spelled
differently. (Example: to, two, too) One pair of homonyms has
meanings that are precisely opposite, and need not be stretched.
What are the two spellings of this homonym?*
-=Yesterday's Answer:
Brothers - From 4), six cases are possible:
Amos Bert Clem
I. hazel blue
II. hazel blue
III. blue hazel
IV. hazel blue
V. blue hazel
VI. blue hazel
>From 1), then, a fourth brother has grey eyes in each case. Then:
from 1) and 2), cases I and VI are impossible; from 1) and 3),
cases II and IV are impossible; from 1) and 3), Clem has grey
eyes in case III; and, from 1) and 2), Bert has grey eyes in case
V.
So you only know the color of Amos' eyes: they are blue. (Any more
than four brothers must also have blue eyes, from 3).)
