Ark. Suspect's Dad Mistaken

> DALLAS (AP) -- The father of the 13-year-old boy
> accused in last month's school shooting in Arkansas
> said he was mistaken when he said on national
> television that his son had been sexually abused at a
> day care center, The Dallas Morning News reported
> today.
>
> Scott Johnson said Thursday that the abuse did not
> occur at the Minnesota center and did not involve a day
> care worker or family member, as he had said in an
> interview broadcast Monday on ABC News' ``20/20.''
>
> ``The statement that I made about it being at a day
> care was incorrect. It was not a day care provider or a
> family member thereof,'' Johnson told the newspaper.
>
> Mitchell Johnson and Andrew Golden, 11, are accused in
> the March 24 shootings at a Jonesboro, Ark., schoolyard
> that left five people dead and 10 injured. They are
> charged as juveniles with capital murder and battery. A
> hearing in their case is set for April 29.
>
> Johnson reiterated that his son was molested in
> Minnesota, but declined to elaborate. Johnson's
> attorney, Tom Furth, could not be reached for comment.
>
> ``There's been new information obviously, but I can't
> give it to you,'' Johnson said. ``I can't give it to
> anybody. I'm not about to be sued over this.''
>
> The television interview came after Mr. Furth had
> spoken at length with Mitchell, who lived in Minnesota
> before moving to Arkansas. His parents are divorced and
> his mother lives in the Jonesboro area.
