It looks like a lot of the Republicans are separating themselves from
this whole thing. This morning I saw a poll on NBC which said the
number one contender for President is now George Bush. Not many people
know anything about him, but they know the name, and his approval rating
for President exceeds Gores.
I understand where Bush is coming from. If the President can't trust
the Secret Service to keep everything to themselves he will keep them at
arms length, and the Presidents safety would be in jeopardy.
IMO, they should not be made to testify. Unless of course they witness
to an illegal act, then they should. But that is already covered under
the present system.
