I asked my husband and here is what I found out.
 
The biggest plane is a Russian transport plane.  But America's biggest
one is the C-5A Galaxy.  Which is only 247 feet long.  The Russian one
is only a few feet longer.
 
The fastest airplane is the SR71 Blackbird which flys over 4,000 mph. 
It is made of titanium because that is the only metal that will
withstand the temperature at that rate of speed.

The Space shuttle flys at 22,800 mph and has a heat shield made of
ceramic
tiles.
