Nightline finally showed the first part of the tape last week. I had
never seen it before. What it showed was King repeatedly getting back
up after he was on the ground. I didn't see any threatening gestures on
the part of King, but I could see where the cops might think he was on
PCP or something. They were beating the hell out of him and he wouldn't
stay down. One cop finally put his foot on Kings neck, while others
were still hitting him with sticks. Then the cop raised his foot and
kicked King.
I don't know if you have ever seen the beginning of the tapes, but this
was the first time that I had seen them. In fact, I think, that they
said it was the first time that they had been shown on television.
