Hi, I was one of those developers that strongly voiced my opinion on the bad state of debugging in the Lazarus IDE. Well, I am also one to give thanks when it is due...
Now is such a time. I hardly every debug directly in the IDE and stepping through code. I just did not work for me. Yesterday, I updated my Lazarus and FPC 2.3.1, and debugged some complex code reading binary data and doing pointer arithmetic. It was the first time that stepping through code and asking for variable information via tooltip debugging worked for me. :-) So thanks again to everybody that added better debugging support in FPC and Lazarus IDE. I really appreciate your efforts, and the recent changes made a HUGE difference in the debugging experience. Awesome work!
