There is no rule that says the Main Window must be above the Editor
Window?
Just because it is at the top by default doesn't make it a fast rule. ;-)
The solution (I think)… Lazarus needs docking support in the IDE. There
are
people working on this, but I have no idea how far they have progressed.

That is fair enough ;)
I don't really mind where the main window is, as long as the docking support
works so the editor window doesn't go over the other windows :)
