G'day ALL Fellow LazarusFolk,

Hi All,

Me again! ;-)))

I am finally getting to a stage with my pc with Mandriva 2010.0 Free
32bit OS installed that I'm pretty happy with it. I only installed
that (this) OS onto this pc about 3-4 months ago. But I've been using
Mandriva of different versions for longer. ;-)))

Also, I have 2 x computers; both use Linux (different OS implementations).

I have these two (2) computers:

(1) generic personal computer desktop with
Linux Mandriva 2010.0 Free 32 bit OS

(2) Hewlett Packard Laptop with Linux Mint 8 Free OS

-----

I intend to do most of my Lazarus development on (1) but some on (2).

On (1) I have installed :

(a) The Mandriva 2010.0 Free 32 bit OS with latest updates from the
online Repositories

(b) The Latest version of Lazarus and Free Pascal Compiler from the
online Repositories

(c) Latest version of Subversion for Mandriva from online Repositories

(d) Latest version of RapinSVN for Mandriva from online Repositories

(e) Customized the theme and desktop resolution (for displays) to be a
good configuration, which I can live with.

(f) Installed a whole bunch of other utilities and game software. I
like games but don't spend a lot of time playing them. I do like to
develop some games; but I have not re/developed any for years. See the
Delphi Source Code page of www.pewink.org -- it will redirect you to
the googlepage homepage of my main website. I've had this website for
years. Only recently have I taken an interest in revamping it and my
pewslinuxvault websites - and also adding some AdSense and AdWords to
help direct more traffic to my websites.

(g) I have my system monitoring for online updates. Not exactly sure
how to configure this

----

So... I need help configuring and learning how to use (1)(c)(d) and
(2)(c)(d). That's to say... How do I configure and use Subversion and
RapidSVN. I chose Subversion as a version control system, because it
seems to be what ppl here like to use. I chose RapinSVN because I
wanted a GUI for SVN.

I used the Mandriva Install / Remove Software app to pick out
"Applications with GUI" -- it's one of about 6 possible options for
the major category, to help an admin (root) user to install
software/app/files. When I did this I had a choice of 3 different SVN
apps with GUI and RapidSVN was the one which sounded the best -- based
on the description.

Please note that I am not working for a professional / commercial /
government organization and hence I don't have a lot of money to spend
on configuring my (1) & (2) computers. I chose and of my OS and
Software because it's FOSS. Basically, if it breaks then I'm the BUNNY
who has to fix it. ;-)))

### SMILE ###

Unless I'm desperate and want to pay some computer shop technician
AU$75 per hour to fix my computer/s. I cannot afford to do that often.
;-(

Does anyone have some tutorials for learning Subversion and RapidSVN
??? I've started to read the RapidSVN doc's (both installed and
online). There is a lot there. ;-) I went to the Lazarus wiki but I
couldn't find the webpage/s about configuring Subversion/SVN apps. I
*DID* find some pages about using Subversion from the command line,
but I'd prefer to use a GUI.

Looking forward to hearing from the Lazarus GURUs & Also Users and
Developers. ;-)))

Enjoy!!! :-))) And Happy Hacking ! :)))
