As the first thing to so is make it accessible on the Linux box at all,
the "third party drivers for Linux" need to be tested, so that you can
communicate with the device using minicom or whatever terminal program.

I hadn't thought of that, I'd assumed that there would be a serial interface
with Linux as well. I'll check it out before I continue.
