For me it is the other way around. I had to install many GTK related devel packages for my KDE based OpenSuse Linux before I could build LCL-GTK2. LCL-Qt required only qt4pas. At least some time ago LCL-Qt was more stable than LCL-GTK2. Recently I haven't even tested LCL-GTK2 so I don't know how much it has improved.
