Only because a (well accepted) platform-independent infrastructure is lacking. FPC does come with a lot of platform independent stuff like TThread, TEvent, TCriticalSection and SyncOBJs. Even ProcessMessages, "Procedure...Message" and Sending Messages is provided in a platform independent dent ways (mimicking the Windows API or thread synchronization even in Linux/Mac).
