I think the general rule was and is, that Lazarus should always compile with the most recent release of FPC as well as the fixes branch. In most cases it should also compile with trunk, but all out-dated versions aren't guaranteed. I might be wrong with this though, but I guess everything else would be a maintenance nightmare.
